Art journaling
I recently combined my love of writing and self knowledge with my love of art in my first art journal.  It is really an interesting art form and sense writing is part of it I thought I would invite you to journal as a group and share your thoughts.

An art journal is usually a sketch pad with spiral binding so it can deal with the extra thickness of the mediums you choose to use.

So far I use:
Magazine clippings
Clip art
colored tissue
print outs from my computer such as words/definitions and things
rubber cement
gesso to make the pages heavier and not buckle that I mix with toll paint to color.
paint
water colors
black, gold, silver ink
photos
glitter glue
glitter spray
news print
stamps
distress paint to age book pages
ripped up book pages
pencils
crayons

As far as how to get started...my whole journal is based on Steve Jobs commencement speach where he says the only way you can figure our how you got where you are is by connecting the dots.   So, I am picking pivitol moments of my life to write about and make a journal page or pages over.  I also just do art for art sake or write for writing sake using fun prompts.

Prompts such as:

Take a word you like and make a collage based on the word.

What color are you?

I most often do things that inspire me.   Take a quote or personal belief that serves you and make a collage or entry or drawing, what ever that drives that point home for you.

Let me know if you want to do this with me and share it with the group.

You have some great ideas Toni :)  I need to start journaling again.  For the longest time I kept a gratitude journal.  It does wonders to keep inspired and realize how every moment in our journey has pupose. :)

Hey, I miss it when I don't journal
I have been extreemly busy and because of that I haven't been writing as much journaling or anything that makes my life happy.  I am going to get started again.

Dover publishing offeres a free sampler of free use art and clip art and I get the samplers and incorporate the drawings by doing a lot of different things with them.

I am interested in making an artist's blog for my stuff.  I see the journaling blogs but don't know much about getting photos on them.

Anybody know how to do that?

Toni
