Looking at the World Through Rose-Colored Glasses
Posted On 11/12/2008 10:21:23 by godisaverb

rose-colored-glasses.jpg   Have you ever found yourself in that place where you don’t really know what it is you want?  While everyone else seems to have all their goals and dreams mapped out, you may not be clear as to what exactly your path in life is.  One of the most common spiritual questions asked is, “What’s my purpose?”

From my understanding, there is but one purpose for all of us.  To experience JOY.  If you made that the only goal of your life, and if you lived from the place of joy, everything wonderful would be added unto you.  If you were constantly in a state of joy, nothing bad could happen.  Why?  Because you wouldn’t perceive any experience as “bad.” It is oh so simple, and yet we keep working at making it difficult.

Living in a state of joy and gratitude automatically attracts good things to you.  When you are in that place of excitement, wonder and bliss, nothing else can come into your experience, because your experience of life is not happening to you…it is coming through you.  If you stumbled and fell, you would find yourself laughing.  If you won an award, you would find yourself laughing.  Every event would automatically be classified as “good.”  Nothing else could exist.  We, as humans, are the ones who have labeled our life experiences as good or bad.  We, as humans, have determined the experiences we classify as bad cause us grief, anger, sorrow, guilt, embarrassment, anxiety, regret, and all other forms of suffering imaginable!  But we can change that…right now!

People tell me, “But wait, Jodi.  I was once in a place of great joy, but I don’t feel that way today.  What happened?”

There is only one thing that could have happened.  You felt joy for a while, but then you chose something else.  You can believe it was due to outside circumstances, if you so choose, but that is never the case.  How you respond to situations, events, and other people is completely your own choice!  If someone spills a drink on you, in that moment, you have a choice to make.  You can respond coming from a place of joy, or you can buy into a negative feeling and find yourself angry.  Either way, it was you who decided what to experience.  What’s it gonna be?  Anger?  Laughter?  Your choice!

The most incredible thing is, the longer you can hold the state of joy, the less “bad” things happen to you and the more “good” experiences show up in your life.  I’m not saying bad experiences won’t still be around.  They will.  However, if you can hold joy in spite of them, those experiences slowly start bowing out of your life.  Why?  Because you no longer recognize them.  Want a good example?  Have you ever called a business where you were put on hold for long periods of time?  What did you do?  More than likely, you got frustrated, after some time, and you hung up.  You didn’t want to waste your time on someone who wasn’t paying any attention to you.

I challenge you to go through an entire day seeing everything from the eyes of wonder and joy.  Get out of your mind long enough to witness the world in a new way–from the perspective of a cheerful observer.  Watch what happens!  If you absolutely will not let go of your bliss, regardless of outside appearances that you generally label bad, your life experience will change.  It has no choice.  Don’t worry.  Be happy!  Seeing the world through rose-colored glasses causes the world to blossom.

If you are still trying to figure out your life’s purpose, maybe this will make it easier.  There is no need to struggle with all those details of manifestation.  Experience JOY!  If you can do that, “this and something more” will come into your life.  Unbelievable gratitude will expand into the space around you, pulling in miracles and wonders you cannot begin to imagine.  That, you see, is your purpose…to find things that bring you joy and appreciation.

Laugh. Smile. Share your love. Feel your heart swell with enormous gratitude.  What greater gift can you give to God than to experience joy?  Imagine what our shared universe would look like if enough of us started living from that state of being every day!

Here, I have an extra pair of rose-colored glasses you can borrow.  Yep…one size fits all.  Did I tell you how beautiful you are today?  Love your smile!  Did you notice my cool dog with the shades?  His name is Bliss.  He follows me everywhere I go. Wanna go get some ice cream? LOL  It's such a beautiful day, isn't it?  You are so amazing....

I AM…Jodi
