“Each decision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting over lost days… What you do or think you can do, begin it. For boldness has magic, power and genius in it. “
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 17th century Poet, Novelist and Scientist
How many times have you set aside your good intentions due to current circumstances or imagined failures? For example, you might want to attract perfect health, more money or a great relationship into your experience. You talk about it. You think about it. Heck, sometimes you even visualize it. However, you never really act on it, because current circumstances and anticipated failures keep interfering with the belief that it is possible to obtain that which you desire. Most people never get past the starting line, because their past beliefs and projected losses keep pulling them out of the race. They feel hopeless…defeated before ever beginning.
Imagine pulling up on your bicycle to the starting line of a race you had dreamed of entering for years, and then looking over to see Lance Armstrong next to you. Or how about entering a first-class golf tournament after years of lessons and hard work only to discover your foursome includes Tiger Woods. How would that affect your decision to continue or your desire to win? Most of us would assume we can’t win, and in that instant, we would sabotage our own ability to take home that first place trophy. Some people might give up competing, altogether, once they saw Armstrong in the race or Woods teeing up his drive. “What’s the point?” they would ask themselves. They would pack up their belongings and just go home. They never even entertained the possibility that Armstrong’s bike would malfunction or that some unforeseen event might occur that would cause Woods to play the worst round of his life. Without actually allowing themselves the opportunity to win, they will never know what “might have been.” Which is worse? Living with the regret that you gave up or living with the knowledge you gave it your best shot?
If you consistently trade in your good intentions for an imagined negative outcome, you will find yourself just short of crossing the starting line. If you can’t even begin, how will you ever finish a winner? You will have to find a way to separate goals from negative possibilities if you ever plan to accomplish what you set out to do.

Make the decision to follow your bliss. Hold on to your highest intentions. Dream the impossible dream. Reach for the unreachable star. Let your decision to achieve stand alone, without factoring in possible circumstances that might prevent you from reaching your goals. Set your intention and boldly step up to the starting line. Don’t look around to see who your competition is. The only one you need concern yourself with is yourself. Don’t start to question or doubt your abilities. Know you chose this path because you have exceptional abilities. Just take that first step confident that everything you need to know will be revealed just as you arrive. You don’t have to know everything in advance, but you have to have enough desire to point yourself in the right direction. One step at a time, you will watch the future unfold before you….magically, powerfully, and with Divine Intelligence inspiring you to clearly see the way. For every step you take, another is revealed. Before you know it, the finish line will be in sight!
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
What steps are you willing to take today to begin? What small thing can be done in this moment to move you in the direction of your goals? Don’t put it off for another day. Do it now! How wonderful it will feel to know you finally made it across the starting line. You are on your way! Once you find your own rhythm, you will find yourself effortlessly gliding towards the life of your dreams. As you clearly focus on your own path, the way is made known. What joy to discover it was never as difficult as you once imagined. Every step nearer the finish line brings new-found confidence and gratitude. Who would have believed it was this simple?
“On your left,” you call out to Armstrong, as you pass him by.
“Great drive!” you hear Woods echo as you stroll 20 yards past his tee shot.
I’ve got the champange on ice. Take your time. Enjoy the journey. I’ll just sit here and polish your trophy while I wait for your victory party.
