In Memoriam - Susan Christine Diane Morgan Oct 31st 1945 - September 28th 2002 My Mother
Posted On 09/28/2008 10:14:26 by Bernadette_Morgan

I have just realised that today is 28th September.  This date is important to me because 6 years ago my mother died, at the age of 56, due in the most part to morbid obesity.  The fact that she was never willing or able to face her internal issues and release them but instead hid behind an ever increasing layer of fat which put a strain on her entire body eventually led to her death at far too young an age, leaving my dad who spent many years caring for her alone just a week before their 40th Wedding anniversary at a point where they should have been looking forward to spending time and growing old together.

So today I would like to say, in memory of my mother, to any who are suffering silently with fears and low self-esteem, poor body image or self-loathing.  Please get help now, ask someone who can, to assist you with the problems which are crippling you.  Let go of the fears now and take the first step to choosing life.  She died before her time and never saw her grandchildren grow up or learned what wonderful people they are and will be in the future.

I wrote a little book called Healthy Mind Beautiful Body which I hoped would reach people life her and help them on the path to recovery and self acceptance because that is what is truly needed to get onto the path of health and happiness which everyone deserves.

Rest In Peace Mum

Love and Light

Thank you Sharmaine I appreciate that, and yes you're right it is strange how these events work to change our own lives and make us more aware and able to understand and empathise with another.

Sending love and light to you now to assist with your own healing journey, and when the time comes feel free to scream at me and I will send some more.  Take care and I will speak to you soon.

Sorry to hear about your mom, Bernadette,

It's really strange how sometimes dealing with our own grief of a loved one, puts us in a position to help some many others get through the tough times as well! I lost my mom as well. It will be 3 years Nov. 23rd.. But it has allowed me to understand what someone else is going through as I continue to heal myself! Thank you for posting this..

Hi Todd

Thank you for your kind words, actually it's strange that when we look at these situations, sad though they are, there are also positives connected to them.  Had she not died the way she did I may not have been motivated to go to university, to do the training I have or write the book.  But all these things came out of a tragic waste of life.  I know you understand this having seen your father die in similar circumstances.  Sometimes there is nothing we can do to help them, but there is much that can be taken from the experience and used to help others.

I appreciate your kind thoughts and warm wishes

Hi Bernadette,

Thank you for sharing your story.  It's tough to see someone slowly kill themselves and you can do nothing but sit back and watch it happen.  I am NLP trained and work with a number of people with weight challenges, so I understand, as well as had my father pass due to various ailments related to weight (heart disease, diabetes, etc.).

My thoughts go with you on this day.

Blessings.

Todd
