Jesus Christ being reinvented, redefined and blasphemed and this falseNew-Age Christ teaching is about to make huge inroads into the world with the help of the queen of television talk shows, Oprah Winfrey. It began on January 1, 2008 with a year long course on the New Age Christ, in a lesson a day and completely covers the 365 lessons from the "Course in Miracles" Workbook. Listeners will be encouraged to buy a course in miracles for the year long course. Those who finish the course will have a wholly redefined spiritual mindset-A new age worldview that include the beliefs that there is no sin, no evil, no devil. A course in miracles teaches its students to rethink everything they believe about God and life, and bluntly states: "This is a course in mind training" and is dedicated to "thought reversal."
The Course in Miracles in reality, is the truth of the Bible turned upside down.
Oprah told her television audience that Williamson's book, A Course in Miracles was one of her favorite books, and that she had already bought a thousand copies and would be handing them out to everyone in her studio audience. Oprah's endorsement skyrocketed Williamson's book to the top of the New York Times bestseller list.
A Course in Miracles is allegedly a "new revelation" from "Jesus" to help humanity work through these troubled times. This "Jesus"-who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible's Jesus Christ-began delivering channeled teaching in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology, Hele Schucman.
One day, Schucman heard an "inner voice" stating, "this is a course in miracles, please take notes". For seven years she diligently took spiritual dictation from this voice that described himself as "Jesus".
Here are some quotes from the "jesus" voice of a Course in Miracles:
There is no sin.
A "slain Christ has no meaning"
The journey to the cross should be the last useless journey
Do not make the pathetic error of clinging to the old rugge cross
The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol...It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for themany names of all the gods to which you pray
The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself
The Atonement is the final lesson he (man) need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation
This sounds like screwed up stuff for screwed up people to me....Just goes to show you that people are not all they seem to be...especially Oprah! Don't belive me, check it out, it's on Oprah's website.

In response: (by, Nadine Cox)
I was quite surprised by this, probably because I live in a world of love and safety, not fear. This is by choice. I choose to see only love, peace, and the Good of Life. This is what I believe Jesus came to show us by his life.......unconditional love, life is good, and we are powerful beings with everything we need to exist and prosper. He also taught us about forgiveness.
I applaud Oprah for the work that she is doing. She has ramped up her vision of empowerment for all the world's people......and that includes believing that we are all God's children, no matter the skin color, life choice or life style. This Course in Miracles that is referred to as something alien or devil-inspired is said to be channeled information from Jesus. So what's bad about that? Is it because only the books of the Bible could be the inspired Word of God written by human men at that time? Did God or Jesus stop speaking to us because we live now? That still small voice (inner voice) gives us guidance always if we are willing to hear it and honor it. The entire series of books, "Conversations With God" are said to be channeled through Neil Donald Walsh, so is he too a false prophet.
Many fundamentalist Christian churches still teach fear as the primary motivator for us as humans. If you would like to read a great book, read "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism" by Bishop John Shelby Spong. I heard him speak a few weeks ago at Mile Hi Church. I also read an article in the paper yesterday about how the Christian church overall is losing members because people are wanting more than this fear-based approach to life. Why does this fear-based approach exist anyway? Because it is a way to control masses of people.
I do not believe in the devil. I believe that this image and the idea of hell was invented by man to control people out of fear, so I also don't believe in Hell. I do believe in a God of love and that God would not send his beloved children to the devil or Hell. I believe that when I die I will change form.....I will leave this earthly body and my spirit will again be unified with the energy of God. Do I believe in evil? Yes.......because God gave us choice and a brain which allowed us to make choices instead of react entirely on instinct. Because of this, humans can choose evil ideas and actions. Fundamentalists would call this sin........the word "sin" means to miss the mark....or to make a mistake. I believe God allows us mistakes and their is no otherworldly punishment.....We are punished by our own mistakes in this life.... that is our hell, right here on earth. It can just as easily be our heaven, depending upon the kind of choice we make. Jesus told us, "The things that I can do, you can do also and even greater things." So....Jesus condemned no one, not even those who persecuted him and killed him.
This New Age Jesus that is referred to is only a Jesus of Love, which I believe is what the Bible shows us. We are all to live as Jesus lived.....human, loving, forgiving (and that means self-forgiveness also), creating, learning, teaching others by our being. The Course in Miracles teaches us to think. I am a Christian Religious Scientist which means that I believe that our thoughts create our reality and that if you change your thoughts, you can change your life. Jesus taught this also......"It is done unto you as you believe." If it's not working for you, change your thoughts, beliefs, and actions until it does.
This is an emotional reaction to a book which I doubt that this person has read. "The Course in Miracles" came out 33 years ago. I bought the entire set, including the teacher's manual, and I consider it a treasure of ideas to help anyone create a successful, happy life. Many, many people have been gathering for years to form study groups to discuss this material. It is about the truth of the Bible. If one is going to call himself a Christian, it is important to research the truth and know what you really believe to be true.....not because someone said so, but because you really know it and believe it. Read a Course in Miracles before jumping to conclusions because of someone else's fear.
Oprah is also promoting another book called "A New Earth," and has a half a million people signed up online to take part in a class about this book. Read it also.....it is one of the most important books you will ever read!
Fear is a mindset.......stay present in love and the good of life and that is what you will have. This is what I wish for you and I hold it as your truth.
