Shiatsu
Posted On 09/06/2008 15:15:09 by jjakajmr

Shiatsu is one of my passions. The origin of the term 'shiatsu' lie firmly within the roots of traditional oriental medicine.  The name comes from the Japanese word 'shi' meaning finger and 'atsu' meaning pressure.  It literally means finger pressure.  However, the spirit of Shiatsu is one of communication by touch.  Shiatsu differs from Westernised forms of massage, which just concentrate on the clientÂ’s muscles.  Shiatsu stimulates particular points on the body's energy channels in order to effect the body's natural healing energy.  Shiatsu is a highly sophisticated form of bodywork.
Shiatsu works particularly well for the following:
. Stress and tension;
. Calming the nervous system;
. Sports injuries;
. Stabilising emotional and psychological conditions;
. Improving digestion;
. Improving the libido;
. Relieving menstrual problems;
. Easing the difficulties of childbirth;
. Easing sports injuries;
. Relieving backache;
. Strengthening body, mind and spirit;
. Improving stamina;
. Relieving aches and pains;
. Creating body awareness;
. Improving posture.

To name but a few!!
