Isolation to Recharge
Posted On 07/29/2008 16:36:24 by hillaryj

It’s 2008 and there’s so much cool stuff! We have mp3 players and phones that surf the internet. We have sixty inch televisions and computers as thin as a notebook. We have eight hundred channels (I know, I know, there’s still nothing on). We have fast cars and fast lives and it all goes by fast. It’s just fast and crazy and fast and crazy and sometimes, well sometimes, just for sanity’s sake, stopping is in order.

STOP – Wait, what’s that ringing…..?

I have five telephone numbers. Not a phone number which is five characters long, but five actual numbers. The good thing about that is if I put a phone in a “safe place” and can’t find it, I can always call from one of the other four lines to find it. (Unless it’s on vibrate, but I digress)

My caller ID shows on my television set. I have wireless internet so I can take this computer anywhere with me.

Maybe I need to take that break and stop with the we I told to take a break earlier in my rant.

So, how do you take a break from life? I do something called isolating. I remove myself from anything or anyone that could possibly require anything remotely considered work.

Generally this involves me going into the guest room with a book. Sometimes, I go to the library and play games on the public Internet computers. Once in a while, I really enjoy just going out to lunch by myself. (Yes, I am that strange lady, sitting in the booth alone getting barbeque sauce all over her copy of the latest Stephen King novel). Walks are good, although I find if I don’t occupy my mind I start thinking and that can be a lot like work.

Everyone is different. I know people who get recharged out of running or working out. (Too much movement for me). I know people who love a nice long bath. (But, then I always have to dry my hair and, blah, blah, you know, that actually sounds like a good idea…) Hmmmm. Maybe it’s time for a soak…

Well, now that my brain is running low on energy and I know I have to go recharge, I must ask one question.

What do you do to recharge?

I want to know.

Cheers,

Hillary
